About

I’m Utpala -- a Designer and UX Researcher who thrives in environments where problems are ambiguous, systems are complex, and solutions need to scale thoughtfully. Currently finishing up my masters in New MediaDesign from National Institute of Design. With experience at Fractal Analytics, I work alongside the Design Ops: Learning and Culture Team and have designed onboarding journeys, built research-driven frameworks. My approach is grounded in rigorous research, systems thinking, and rapid prototyping. In my academic projects, I’ve conducted end-to-end studies for products across AI tools, sustainability apps, and creative-tech experiences, using usability testing, workflow analysis, and mixed-method research to shape strategic decisions. Whether mapping friction points, designing interactive prototypes, or creating expereinces that drive home a point, I focus on turning insight into clarity and clarity into well-crafted experiences. Before transitioning into UX, I worked across project management and content management at Shoptimize, improving delivery timelines through process optimization and collaborating across engineering, design, and QA. That background helps me work fluidly with cross-functional teams, understand stakeholder management and design with both user needs and operational realities in mind. I’m especially excited by AI, emerging technology, and products that require thoughtful problem-solving, whether that’s building a new workflow from scratch, defining a system, or shaping the earliest version of an experience.
